• the introduction of economic inequality as a factor in the sw universe

• showing that kylo ren isn’t inherently evil and rey and luke aren’t inherently good it’s about the choices that they make and they have the opportunity to become better or worse people at any time but they choose to stay on their paths
• idk what mark hamill was talking about I loved every second luke skywalker was on screen 
• loved how I thought it was gonna be a super sexist narrative where poe had to wrest laura dern’s power away and save everyone and then it turned out to actually be a story about how theatrical heroics aren’t always the best move and sometimes cooperation is better which is not a story i’ve ever seen in sw before
• i get the complaint that poe rey finn and rose’s narrative wasn’t important but I love the fact that they set up this super thrilling million-to-one-odds plan to save everyone and then it failed, they did their best but they still failed, that’s never happened in sw before and I loved it very bold writing choice
• laura dern carrie fisher gay 
• keeping kylo a complicated and interesting character while also showing him as laughably pathetic and weak. the audience laughed at him multiple times which I loved, reminded me of how one of the conclusions of this play i saw last week was we have to be able to laugh at villains
• such high stakes, I really genuinely felt like the resistance might be wiped out of existence which is dlkfsjadlfks very hard to actually make the audience think. also the timely political theme of what to do when it feels like you are being picked off and progressively losing ground to insurmountably powerful forces of evil = u have to do your best to preserve whatever you can for as long as you can and help your friends survive
• oh also LOVED the revelation about rey’s parents this trilogy really is righting the wrongs of the previous movies in so many ways

• hated poe’s sexism toward laura dern, hated the lack of stormpilot, wish rey could have had longer with luke, don’t love rose being in love with finn, yeah I think those are all my complaints. also more closure re: han’s death pls
